Sig/nature: 1996 (N.F.S.)

A series of wax and oil paint images based on  six week stay in India at the Sanskriti Kendra in the foothills of the Aravali Mountains outside New Dehli, India. This was a UNESCO funded residency; I appied so I could combine a study of Ayurvedic Herbalsim with the time in the studio to experiement with newly sought out local materials. The site housed the INDIAN  Victoria and Albert Museum of Culture of Indian Domestic Artifacts; it also allowed for time to travel in Northern India. The funding was generous and I was able to commission a small catalogue written by Stephen Miles, when the resulting work was shown at Sheffield University Arts Tower in 1994. The project was the first to be inspired by Ayurvedic ideas and subsequently fed into my PhD research on health issues started in1997.
